About Caroline

I am a bit fearful the terrible two's have come early around our house. Caroline is in to everything, and making her needs and wants well known. This is a brief run down of what she has gotten into in a very short time this afternoon.

First she went into the bathroom, and stuck both hands arms into the toilet and began splashing. (Usually the toilet lid is down, but I guess I forgot.) Good thing she did not fall into it, it looked as if she could at any moment.

Picked up the toilet cleaning brush and played with it until I noticed.

Pulled every single hair curler out from underneath my sink and spread them about the bathroom.

She pulled the entire roll of toilet paper from bathroom into the living room. Who needs toys when you have toilet paper, really?

She shut bedroom doors and laughed while waiting for me to come in.

She tore up a few magazines.

She threw half her dinner onto the floor.

Spread her shoes around the house.

Took out my wallflower and was chewing on it.

She had stopped splashing in the water bowl so we put it back down for Boomer, but today she decided to take a drink.

Now you might be thinking, someone should really be watching this child. Well I am, she is fast and gets into things when I am moving laundry into the dryer, doing quick chores, really any time I do not have my eye on her for a minute. I also thought my house was baby proofed, think again, I need to reinspect and fix somethings.

Now this afternoon, I needed to get some gifts so I invited my aunt and we ventured to the mall. All was going well until Caroline wanted out of the stroller. We were in the children's shoes so I figured I would let her run for a while. Definitely a rookie mom mistake, because as you more experienced moms probably know, getting her back in was awful. She was not having it, more like absolutely FURIOUS. Luckily there was cookie stand right down the mall so I stopped and got her a cookie. I am sure I should not reward her negative behavior, but I was desperate to console her. I am thankful my aunt was there to help as well, I think I will be going on long shopping trips with someone to help always.

I just definitely have an independent, fearless child who wants to explore and investigate everything.
______________
On a physical note, I have noticed that Caroline has a major birthmark down her right arm. It is called a Cafe A Lait, mark which means it is the color of coffee with milk. The doctor said we are just now noticing since she has gotten a little sun. Does anyone know if these fade with time, or shrink/get bigger? I have heard various things about them shrinking/fading/growing. She has one other small one on her left leg. On her right leg she has a white birthmark on her knee. I have never had any birthmarks, however I am prone to getting the "pregnancy mask" and melasma.
Also, her left eye/canine tooth is coming in!

Welcome to the 2's!! The stroller thing is the worse! It gets to the point where they won't get in at all!! :) She's precious!

Awww... I know you've probably had a hard day, but your post (and Caroline's antics) made me laugh!

LOL! I think I wrote the exact same post almost immediately after Collin turned one! Believe it or not, it gets worse before it gets better, but *you* become better at knowing what she will get into and how to handle tantrums, etc. Just yesterday Collin made his way to the bathroom (where we keep the door shut), opened the door, opened the lid on the toilet and threw in one of his toy cars. Nice. Hey, at least life isn't boring with a toddler! :)

Don't know anything about the birthmark but I'd love to hear what you find out!

Um, I hate to tell ya, but that's just the fun part of being one. It's a whole different ball game once the terrible two's start. People told me that the terrible two's really are more like two and half-ish til they're 3 ish. They weren't lying. When Caleb turned 2 and a half, everything hit the fan!!! Good luck:) Also, my sister has a birthmark similar to what you are talking about. You only ever notice it in the summer because it's worse with a tan. I don't think it ever necessarily faded, but it's hardly noticeable anymore, but we are also not in the sun as much as we used to be.

Ya, it definitely gets worse. With Kelly its a lot of testing. And although our house isnt baby proofed all that well, you do learn where she goes and what she gets into. If there is too much quiet, I know where to find my little stinker.

I know everyone is saying it gets worse and it so does! Your patience will be tested and you will be pushed to the limit. I do know that you are in a frustrating stage with Caroline not being able to talk yet, but unfortunately it doesn't get any easier, at least it hasn't for us yet. Just when something gets easier, something else gets harder. However they get so much more fun as they start talking and get older so it's not all bad of course. Good luck with your little firecracker! I have a little birthmark like that on my bicep area and since I am so whitey white now you can barely see it, when I used to go tanning and be out a lot it was more coffee colored. It shouldn't be too much of a big deal.

I seriously started chuckling to myself when I read this post b/c it sounds exactly like brooks...stroller problems and all! He would rather "push" his stroller than ride in it these days. Not looking forward to the 2's that is for sure!

Caden is going through the exact same thing! The best advice I got was just be consistent and it is a phase! So hang in there. ;)

I have cafe a lait birthmarks. and they don't get smaller. but you do notice them more with sun. Mine is on my arm. Hailey even has a little one on her leg. Don't worry.
