Annual Stock Show

Last night we went out to the Ft. Worth Stock Show. Luckily, we decided to forgo the rodeo, and after hearing my sister's account of the calf that died in the center of the arena, I'm glad we made that choice. I'm not sure I could have handled that, and I am sure we would have been bombarded by Caroline steadily repeating one of her favorite phrases, "What happened?"

Other than hearing of that mishap, the stock show lived up to its reputation. We had a great time walking around, viewing the animals, and letting Caroline feed them in the Petting Zoo. There was hardly a crowd, so Caroline basically had the little kid areas to herself.

After viewing and smelling all the lovely animals, we weren't going to be able to sneak out without Caroline riding something. She had been eyeing what she called "Six Flags" all night. She rode the gator ride, and it was a hit!

2 1/2

Caroline reached the 2 1/2 year mark yesterday. We celebrated with a morning outside, no not really, but I did think about how much my daughter has grown and changed in six months throughout the entire day. Just 6 short months ago, Caroline was preparing to go to "school" for the first time. I was afraid because she showed no interest in anything educational. I have been pleasantly surprised by her growth over these 6 months. It's almost like she went from being a baby to a child.
Caroline is now potty trained, something we achieved over the Christmas break, she counts to 20 (sometimes gets confused after 15), can sing her ABCs, and identify most colors. She sings and dances all the time, colors and creates crafts, loves to get herself dressed, and communicates what she wants and needs beautifully.
This sweet one is no longer a baby.
She is my little girl!
I had to throw in a picture of our Boomer, one of Caroline's favorite playmates! :-)

New Years Day- Red Raider Style

All throughout December I had a plan and I was sticking to it, I was bound and determined to get up early New Year's Day and make it out to Tech's bowl game in Dallas. I didn't take into account during all this planning that it would be freezing cold! Despite the cold, I woke up with the sun Saturday morning, dressed in so many layers I resembled a linebacker, hurried Justin out the door and waited for my brother who overslept to head on out to Dallas. We arrived early, plenty early in fact, early enough to be a complete ice burg by the time the game started.
We arrived early enough to catch the Raider Walk, attend one of Justin's client's tailgates, and ride the gondola multiple times.
We, or shall I say I, even had time to creep a little and check out some of the players near the locker room. Here is a possible future quarterback.
Anyway, I had bought my brother and his friend Nick cheap seats in the end zone and Justin and I sat around the 40 yard line. By the second half, we were also in the end zone due to the lack of sun in our seats. BRRRRRRRR!In the end zone I ran into all sorts of old friends. Above are two sorority sisters, Julie and Keily. I was surprised and excited to see and catch up with so many old friends! The game started as a blowout, but Northwestern made it a close one in the end. It was a great game and we enjoyed ourselves. A nice win to start off 2011!
