Dinner Time

Last night Amy, Andrew, Kinsley, Cru, Regina, Michael, and Kelly came over and brought dinner. They brought homemade lasagna, bread, and brownies. It was so good. I have rarely had homemade lasagna....we always do the Stoffers brand. There is definitely a big difference. We really enjoyed visiting and talking all about our new babies. I am so lucky that I have many friends that have or are having babies around the same time. They answer all my questions and make me feel more relaxed about being a new mommy. It was such a nice evening. I have great friends. It makes me realize the blessing of friendship.

Yesterday afternoon Justin and I were getting cabin fever so we packed up Caroline and we went to Babies R Us. Caroline did great...she just slept the entire time. It really was not too difficult either. I am sure one of these days she will be awake, screaming, and needing a diaper change and I will take back my statement about it not being difficult. However, from years of shopping by myself I have a habit of leaving my basket and checking out the items on the shelf. Yesterday I saw something I was interested in and just walked away from Caroline. I could not believe I did that. I did not get more than 5 feet away before I realized what I had done and ran back over. I am going to have to break that bad habit.

We also had family over yesterday. My mom and dad, Aunt Carol, and Grammy Jonette came over. It is so great that Caroline has so many people that love her so much. She is a lucky girl.

the lactation nurse also tried to scare me about the paci and really recommended that we didnt give her one (or a bottle) until she was at least 2 weeks old. i followed that advice for a couple of days and that was about it. i dont give it to her that often and when i do, i dont give it to her for that long. if she falls asleep with it in, i take it out immediately after she falls asleep. and like you said, i mainly give it to her after she has eaten (and i know that she is full and had enough) but still acts hungry and just wants something to suck on or when i know that she is hungry and it is time to eat and i still need a few minutes before i can sit down and feed her. i will definitely not let her get dependent upon it and if she starts getting nipple confusion (which she has had no problems with at all) i will definitely stop. but for now, it works for us and so we are going to go with it!! and that green one that they gave us at the hospital is the only one that she will take. she hates all of the other ones!
sorry this has become a novel....:)
