First Days

The first two days haven't been too bad, I think the anticipation was worse than the actual transition. Caroline, of course, did beautifully with my mom on Monday and I basically set up my room in a few hours. I changed very little and the people that were in my room this summer treated it as if it were their own.

Today was her first day at the new preschool. Yes, Preschool!!! I made the mistake of calling the new lady a babysitter and she told me in a loving way, "she hasn't babysat since she was 12." She does run an apparently fabulous preschool right out of her home. I was enthusiastically referred to her and have heard nothing but rave reviews.
Here is Caroline walking to the door with her new nap mat, I thought the nap mat itself was a total joke, really Caroline is expected to sleep in this thing? Guess what... she slept like a log!!

Arriving at the door! Caroline walked on in and never batted an eye as I left. I could tell she was a bit uneasy, but no tears were shed!

I called around lunch to check on Caroline and the report was, "Caroline is so quiet, sweet, and loves to color." I wanted to repeat who I was and make sure she remembered I am Caroline's mom. You know Caroline is sweet, but I wouldn't say quiet and she typically doesn't enjoy much that requires patience or sitting still. But, she wasn't mistaken!
This afternoon I picked up a happy, but worn out little girl. They had read countless books, sang songs, counted, colored, made two necklaces, and even gotten tattoos! How fun!!Her box was full of her coloring as well as the necklaces she made. We get to check our box every afternoon, that is something to look forward to for sure!! They worked on the letter "A" so they got alligator tattoos and made apple necklaces.
I have always felt at peace with my decision to send Caroline to Ms. Pat's, but today only solidified my feelings. I cannot wait to see what Caroline learns and how she develops throughout the year.
