25 things about me

Ok...I was tagged so here it goes

1. I am a new mother to the happiest little girl named Caroline. She is definitely the best thing I have done in my life time.

2. I got married literally right out of college to my soul mate and college sweet heart. We are both from Arlington, but it took us going to New Mexico to meet. We met on a fraternity ski trip. I went with a friend, and Justin had another date.

3. I have a big yellow dog named Boomer who I love more than one person should love a dog. He has quite a demanding personality, so it has taken time for him to get used to not being the "top dog."

4. I have a great, loving family. Growing up I hated that my parents always taught in my schools.(Yes, my parents were with me from K-12.) I couldn't wait to get to college. Then, first semester in college I couldn't wait to come home. Now, I usually talk to my mom multiple times a day, and my dad often too.

5. Both of my Grandmothers lived with us for period during serious illnesses. It was tough at the time, but taught me so much responsibility. I cared for my Nanny shortly I graduated college to help my mom out. It was nice to care for someone who had cared so much for me, but an incredibly trying time.

6. I am the oldest of three. My brother is soft spoken and has the best heart. He is definitely the calmest and most level headed of us. My sister is a fire ball who is not afraid of going for what she wants. She is beautiful and driven. I love my brother and sister dearly.

7. I loved college (after the first semester) and everything about it....10 o clock classes, the dorms, the cafeteria in the dorms (hello 15 lbs), weekend parties, football/basketball games, sorority life, and so much more. I now love all things Texas Tech and get unreasonably and ridiculously nervous at all Tech games. If we lose....well I am not the best loser. Usually I turn it off before we officially lose so I can convince myself that I do not know what happened. Right now it is basketball season, so I try to just watch the first half of the games....

8. I am currently in my last semester of grad school. I graduate in May with a Masters in Educational Administration. I should be working on homework right now.

9. During rush week for my sorority I was dancing in a skit, and I fell and dislocated my knee cap. It was sooooooo painful and really embarrassing. Who hurts themselves dancing?? I would not let anyone carry me, so the ambulance had to transport me to the hospital. I am a wimp. I got carried out on a stretcher in front of many sorority girls and fraternity gentlemen looking on wondering what happened. This is probably the most embarrassing moment of my life. HA.

10. I teach third graders and we are currently in crunch time. 19 days from now my kids will be taking TAKS. AHHHH!

11. I currently am obsessed with the show The Bachelor. Team Melissa!!

12. I love the neighborhood in which I live. It used to be better because my best friend Paige lived a couple of doors down. Now there are a few new moms, and so many young families that we have a blast with.

13. I waste much time and lose a lot of sleep reading and creating blogs. I love mommy blogs, decorating blogs, crafty blogs, friends blogs, and just all things blogs.

14. When I was young my family and I spent most summers traveling. One summer we drove all the way up the east coast into Canada with many stops along the way. Another summer we spent a few weeks on the west coast. We went to Disney three times and even went on the Disney cruise. It was so much fun and we have tons of great memories.

15. When I was in the fifth grade I had to write a paper about three wishes. One of my wishes was that everyone would live to 100. I had recently experienced the death of my sweet grandma and I hated that people were prematurely taken from this earth. I still wish sickness, pain, and suffering were not experiences of this life. I guess if it were all perfect here, heaven would not be necessary. I am sure God has it all figured out. I'll just leave that to him.

16. I love children....at least most of the time. I do teach so by about 3:00 every day I might not have this same feeling. I wish all children were loved unconditionally, treated kindly, and able to experience the glee and the magic of childhood.

17. The past couple of years I have developed a love for reading. I now LOVE a good book.

18. My mind is constantly stirring and thinking about ten things at a time. I have difficulty focusing on the task at hand because I am always thinking about the next thing. I think this might be called ADD.

19. I love the fact that my daughter is much more fashionable than me. Grammy and Aunt Andrea buy her way more clothes than she could ever need, but Caroline sure is stylish.

20. I love summer time and everything that comes with it. I love summer clothes, swimming, the lake, time off...

21. I have no desire to travel over seas. My husband really wants to tour Europe, but I am terrified of the plane ride and I think I will be immediately homesick. Maybe one day I will grow out of these childish fears and experience a whole new world.

22. I had a guinea pig as a class pet. Her name was Daisy. One day I was cleaning her cage and my dog snuck in....and well you can probably finish this sentence. Yeah, I felt awful and it was the only time in my life I felt responsible for the death of another living creature. Well I guess one time I did put salt on a slug, but I felt terrible for that too.

23. I enjoy watching sports on TV. I will even watch the Rangers play for hours. I would love to get a job being a sideline reporter.

24. I love Mexican food, especially cheese enchiladas with queso on top. I get this dish everywhere I eat. I have probably eaten more cheese in 27 years than most people do in a lifetime.

25. I love people and enjoy gathering with others. I am abundantly blessed with wonderful people in my life.

Hey! Two comments. 1. I'm pretty sure Paige and I thought it was awesome when the doctor popped your knee back into place. It was difficult to look at, but totally worth it! 2. You MUST read A Thousand Splendid Suns. I'm pretty sure that's the best book I have ever read!!
