Late in the afternoon we went to my Thanksgiving. Between all the dogs and people I believe there were 21 beating hearts at the house, but we would not have it any other way. My family cooked enough food to feed an army, and decided to fry turkeys and jalapenos this year. The turkeys were a hit, and the jalapenos with some, but others couldn't handle them, me included.

Two Families, Two Thanksgiving Dinners, Twice the Fun
Happy Thanksgiving all. I hope every ones day was as full and fun as ours. What is better than family, food, and football...not much!
We began the day with Justin's side of the family at Granny's house. Her fireplace was going when we walked in, it smelled like all sorts of yummy food, and it just felt like a traditional family Thanksgiving, so cozy and perfect. We ate tons of everything, and I pigged out on the mashed potatoes because my side of the family does not do mashed potatoes. Are they crazy, I think so! Anyway, Caroline loves eating, playing with Macy and Ayva, and being loved on by Justin's mom and Granny so she had a blast.
Loving some pie and snuggles from Grammy.
Playing with Sarita and Ayva.
Macy and Ayva, both these girls are beautiful and so sweet.
Ayva fixing Caroline's hair. Good luck with that, Ayva!
Ayva is always dressed adorable and she has a bow with all outfits.
Caroline in mid conversation, telling me about something!
Caroline with a sweet smile I have never seen before.
Justin carving his fried turkey.
My favorite desert of the day, might not be traditional, but it was yummy.
Caroline was the head of the table, sitting on phone books and all.
Caroline looks as if someone scratched her up, I think a few mosquitoes got her on our walk a few days ago.
My sister Andrea and the Texas Techsan Alyssa, who I am forcing to love and embrace the red and black.
Michaela and me, she spent the day with us!
Justin mid bite and Caroline.
Mark and his beloved Gidget.
The pretty Middleton children.
I am Thankful
I am so thankful. If I listed the all the blessing the Good Lord has bestowed upon my family and me this post would be pages long. My life is so full, so filled with joy, happiness, and pure love.
A few things that have been heavy on my heart lately come out of the mouths of the sweet kids I teach at school. A few weeks ago one of my kids was beaming with pride, he informed me that him and his family were finally moving into a two bedroom apartment. He then stated his dad was going to use ply wood to form a partition in the kids room so they could each have their own space. It made me think, wow, and I am really worried about when my new house is going to break ground, or if it has a perfect sized mud room? I am so thankful.
Not going into details, but a few of our kids within our school are really living a nightmare. Families are broken and dysfunctional and the kids act as adults in many situations. I have a incredible family, wonderful husband, and beautiful little girl. I am so thankful.
Recently, after reading Kelly's Korner, I was inspired to go and sponsor a child through Compassion. We got paper work in and just imagining the dirt floor, one room, tin houses makes me sad. Thinking kids are working from young ages, and mothers are forced to work long hours and are still hardly able to support their families. I have a great job, so much time off, and make enough to live a comfortable life. I am thankful.
Through the connection that blogs bring, I have read and become attached to some families and children facing health issues. I read Tuesday's story, Mckmama's journey, and so many others. Every time I am moved and overwhelmed with sadness by the emotional outpouring of the parent's and supporters. I take our health for granted, but I am so thankful.
So today, I am so thankful for my family, friends, health, job, and shelter.

Old Friends and New Friends
Today was perfect and wonderful, did I already mention something about that? Anyway, on this Thanksgiving Eve one of the many blessings in my life that I am so thankful for is my friends.

One cool chick and a couple of raccoons
Now for something completely different.

Justin and I have a couple of friends who piddle around above us all night long. We had been hearing them since we moved into my parents house and figured it was a couple of squirrels. Well progressively the sounds kept getting louder, until at some points I could hear it downstairs and would go up to see if there was someone walking around. Well it turns out there are a couple of the cutest raccoons living in the attic. They walk around, turn on lights, and just live their little life all up in our cozy attic. Of course this isn't too safe so my parents are doing all they can to get them out. We have definitely gotten one out and my dad is afraid the other is trapped in attic. The one lonely raccoon now just sits on the roof day in day out. He seems to be missing his bud. Tomorrow someone is coming to check out the attic and make sure it is clear. Nothing like fighting wild animals in the middle of the city.
