The round up was held at the high school where your school feeds into. Ours was at Mansfield high. As soon as we walked in Caroline began crying, not just crying but sobbing and hiding behind me. Talk about breaking my heart!!! As a younger grade teacher for few years the criers always annoyed me, now I might have one of my own and it just kills me. After a few minutes a high school girl came and got her and walked her through the lunch line. She ate every bit of her cafeteria lunch. She is definitely her mother's child. Cafeteria food never bothered me! Other than that we just walked around to different booths regarding shots, paperwork, PTA, busing, etc.
About a month later, she got invited to to come for a meet and greet at the school. With me being in the throws of testing Justin took her. Again, she just boo hooed. After she got in the room the teacher said she calmed down and made friends with a current kindergartner. She also thought it was pretty cool that the kids carried lunch boxes for lunch. Hopefully this summer will be a time of growth and maturity and she'll be ready to go come August.
