The first week in June means one thing for my family, Frio River!! As soon as I checked out of school Friday, Justin and I loaded the car and headed southbound for the Frio. Lots of people have asked, so I'll let you know a little bit about the Frio. Where we float and stay is in a town called Concan, Texas. It is about an hour and a half west of San Antonio in true hill country. Some views are so breathtaking I can't believe I'm still in Texas. The water is cold, as the name indicates, and it is crystal clear. When the sun hits just right, you get a beautiful turquoise color. Now if you floated in college and are wondering why in the world I would think this is a place for a family vacation, the Frio float is much different from the crazy Guadalupe and Comal floats of my youth. It is mostly families and not too crowded. We stay at a house operated by Seven Bluffs, it is about 100 yards from the river, has a huge front porch, and lots of green grass for the kids to play on. A little bit of heaven in Texas!
Now I must say this year was a bit different since I still have a young baby. It wasn't exactly relaxing for me, Carter can handle the water for about 5 minutes at a time and he didn't want anything to do with his pack n play. However, I wasn't going to let no sleep and little water time ruin my vacation. I soaked up my days rocking my baby on the front porch and just visiting with family. I did float the first day, thanks for Grammy and Granny helping out with Carter.
Carter actually really did enjoy the water, he was just a bit too confident and would scare me so I didn't let him spend much time floating around. Most of his time in the tube was spent on the front porch.
Caroline loved the water and floated the river twice!! Here she is super excited to go!
My sister in law, Andrea has a baby just about 6 weeks older than Carter. Here is little sweet Maddy, she loved the water as well!
We brought Caroline's bounce house, that and the majority of our earthly possessions (traveling with a baby is crazy), and the kids loved it! Here is Caroline and Macie! Macie is going into 8th grade, she is precious and is still so great with all her little cousins.
Caroline loved her time with Ayva, she will be going to kinder next year. I see many years of fun with those two as they grow!
We always have a shrimp boil that Justin is in charge of...it is my favorite night of the trip!
I was surprised by how much Caroline liked the shrimp.
Bath time with the littles!
The little ones preferred to eat the river rocks, so I felt better sitting them in an enclosed tube.
Look how big she is getting!! I couldn't believe how willing she was to pose for me, she is growing before my eyes!
Miss Maddy
Charlie and Karson
Grammy always brings her game of Wahoo and the kids love playing her!
This was my view most of the week! Not too bad, wishing I was there now!
