Per Request-Here's the Scoop

Wanna know all the details behind baby boy? Here are some of the questions I get most often....

1. When are you due?

I am due October 16th. I am currently a little over half way through my pregnancy. I am hoping to deliver a week late, then I'll take from then to Christmas break off from work. I know by the time that date gets here I won't care one bit and will be ready to pop, but it would be ideal (for my work situation) to go a few days late.

2. When did you find out you were pregnant?

I found out around mid February.

3. How have you felt?

I have really felt great, other than completely exhausted. I have never been this tired in my life, I don't even remember this exhaustion with Caroline. I felt a surge of energy return around 13 weeks, but my sleepiness still comes and and goes with different weeks.

Cooking dinner in the first trimester made me a little queasy and I never wanted what I cooked. However, for the most part I was starving all the time and ate everything in sight. My hunger has luckily subsided a bit, but I still could probably out eat any given offensive lineman.

My biggest complaint about pregnancy is my ACNE. I am a grown woman....where does this come from? With my last pregnancy I had it on my face, but terrible on back. Like from the top to the absolute bottom of my back...so bad I couldn't even wear spaghetti straps or rarely even sleeveless stuff and I delivered in July. This time, it is a bit worse on my face, not so bad on my back, and I also have some on my neck. (Which was one reason I began thinking I was having a boy...more on that in a minute.)

One more new side effect, which I hope is due to pregnancy, is brittle eyelashes. Anyone that knows me or has seen me really get ready has seen my eyelash process. I am really anal and I like them to be perfect, well that won't be happening anytime soon. Last week while curling, about half of my eyelashes broke right in half. It was pretty mortifying and now I am having to learn to live with eye lashes that shoot straight out and are all scraggly. Hopefully they will return back to their pre pregnancy form shortly.

Oh yeah, and I have the typical pregnancy brain. I can't remember anything and just look at my spelling from my last post. Oh dear!

4. Why were you so quiet about this pregnancy?

Those near and dear to me were well aware of my pregnancy. Most who asked or were vocal about their suspicions, got the truth. I waited until about 10 weeks to tell some and then told most everyone, other than the blog world, around 14 weeks. I am always a bit apprehensive to shout the news to the world due to previous miscarriages. I miscarried my very first pregnancy around 8 weeks but didn't find out until 12 weeks. I had to have a D and C with that baby. Most recently, I miscarried a baby in October so that was still fresh on my mind. I was around 8 weeks along, and that baby was due in late May. I have pretty good intuitions and for some reason that pregnancy never felt right. I miscarried on my own, so there was little delay in trying again. I am also a bit superstitious and I never want to jinx myself, I know that is weird and I am completely aware of who is in charge and I what I say or do won't change a thing. Finally after seeing my anatomy sonogram, I was too excited not to share the good news.

5. How's baby boy doing?

Baby boy is doing fabulous, and although the sono tech got two good looks at the boy parts, I have yet to be completely convinced. I think I was just so sure it was another girl, the heart rate was high and this pregnancy has been so similar to Caroline's. My only thought that it could be a boy was my neck acne. I never had that with Caroline, and I've heard jaw and neck acne are hormone related. I also had neck acne with my very first pregnancy and I was always sure that pregnancy was a boy.

One thing of concern on the sonogram was baby had a choroid plexus cyst on his brain. I used to be a huge worrier (still can get myself into a frenzy at times), but as I 've gotten older that has subsided, and I am actually not worried at all. The cyst causes no problems with brain development or brain activity. I actually know two other people that have gotten similar diagnosis at their anatomy sonogram and their children are just fine. They point out the cyst because it is a soft marker for Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18. However, since baby boy has no other markers the chances of him having Downs or Trisomy 18 are extremely low. I declined further testing, partially due to the fact that I seem to fail all tests, and I really have faith that baby is just fine. If this were my first pregnancy I would be a basket case.

6. Any names or nursery ideas?

No, not really. Some names I am currently pondering include Carter, Cooper, Spencer...Justin likes Preston and I like Landon, but we seem to be unable to totally agree and fall in love with one name. Seriously, suggestions are appreciated. As far as the nursery goes, I really like simple with little frill for boys. I like blue, light blue, green, and orange as colors in the nursery. I haven't really found much that fits my criteria completely so I'll just keep looking.

I guess that is about it for now. This is my last week of school and I am looking forward to a summer of relaxation!

I love it when people are able to use their maiden names as a first name...your names are all cute though! You look great, you are tiny. Congrats!

I am so excited for you guys!!! A baby boy is SO much different from a girl in ways that you would never expect! One of the best ways is that they LOVE their mommas!!! Congratulations!!!

Oh, I am so glad you wrote all this out...you will be glad too later down the road! I just saw you and didn't notice ANY acne! You must do a great job of concealing it!

Also, I love Spencer and Landon the best, and I didn't even think of that being your maiden name! You should definitely use it at least as a middle name! That would be so neat!!

I am really excited for you! I didn't know you had miscarried back in October. I am so sorry- I know that is so hard (I miscarried my very first before Addyson) and especially when you are that far along. This sweet baby boy will be perfect and precious and I like all of your names! It was hard for us to come up with a boy name too!

I'm glad you posted this. I too was wondering why you kept it secret for so long. Sorry to hear about another miscarriage, I know that can't be easy. :( Happy to hear baby boy is doing great! I also love Spencer and being able to use your maiden name!

I didn't make the connection at first, but I love Spencer! I definitely agree, if you decide not to use it for his first name you should at least put it in the middle. Meaningful names make for a better story :)

Haven had a cyst on her brain as well, but it went away and (we think) she is perfect! Baby boy will be too!!

Spencer!!!! So classy and cute! I cracked up about your eyelashes because I know how important that is in your getting ready routine. Hello 1 hour eyelash preparation in chitwood.
