Just Not Good Enough
This might be the last time I mention my beloved Red Raiders this season. (Oh wait, we play Oklahoma next week...so maybe not.) This year has been tough (since when have we had a true qb problem), its not always easy to be a Raider Fan. Nonetheless, I love college football, love Texas Tech, and have pride through the good and the bad. I read Double T Nation frequently and often agree with the author, but this week he summed up my thoughts really about the season in general. For you Red Raider fans out there click here and read the wrap up: http://www.doubletnation.com/2009/11/15/1158157/post-game-thoughts-oklahoma-st
My favorite part of this blog must be his mention Tech should be a contender next year. Looking forward to it!!!
We are bowl eligible and with all the mediocrity and nonsense throughout Big 12 I'm hopeful we will go to a bowl game.
Regardless of wins and losses, in my opinion we have the best symbol/logo, colors, and sparkly helmets in the Big Twelve.

16 Months
Our little monkey, hanging upside down.

Caroline is 16 months today. She is growing like a weed, rambunctious, silly, happy, speedy, and a bit temperamental these days...pretty much a typical toddler. She fills our lives with laughter and love.
Now some things for this living baby book...
Lately she has become, as my dad says, a CHOW HOUND. She eats everything in sight and is always begging for more. Today at Sunday school the teacher let me know she not only ate her snack but everyone elses. What are we going to do with this little piggy?

Another noticeable change in the past month is she now "carries on conversations." No one else can understand them, but she will talk and talk. I can't wait for her sentences to become understandable.
Caroline runs everywhere she is going. She can climb onto couches and chairs, which leaves us constantly preventing accidents.
When we tell her bath, she runs to the bathtub repeating "bath, bath." When we put soap on her hands she rubs them together just like big people and rinses them off. Most of the time, when we say night night she will grab our hand and head toward her room. When it is time to eat, she goes and gets her high chair and begins pulling it into the breakfast area. She points to our eyes when we say eyes...she is not really interested in other parts. She cheers when she hears cheering and says "yay." When she sees pictures of herself she says "baby" and will occasionally kiss them. Her newest words are poo poo, (I know, just lovely, but maybe she will let me know when she needs a new diaper) step, bath, night night, Papa, and bow, she loves to take it out and tell me about it.

Changes
"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the sun." Ecclesiastes 3:1
We are definitely in a season of change. If you know anything about me, you know I am not a fan of change. I cried for about 3 months straight and wasted away to bones when I left for college. I felt like half my life had died...disappeared, and in many ways it had. Nothing was ever the same once I moved to Lubbock. But it turned out to be the best four years of my life to that point. I learned, I changed, I grew up, I made new friends, and I became independent...an adult. When I got married, I struggled with the drastic shift in my life. Justin and I probably had more "discussions" in those first few months than we have had in the remaining 4.5 years. I had to evolve to my new life, and it wasn't easy. Even bringing Caroline home was a major adjustment, as it is for most parents. Nonetheless, I do like small changes, it keeps my life from getting mundane. But big changes, not so much.
I am sure you have seen the posts about the move, well our home sold in about a week after being listed. It officially had a contract we agreed upon on September 26th, and we had to be out by October 28th. Moving has been incredibly difficult for me, yet exciting at the same time. I never thought we would live there forever, and always knew moving day would come. But still, it was bittersweet. I dearly love our neighbors and their children. This was our first home, we built it together. We brought Caroline home here. Leaving this house felt like I was leaving a piece of me. I know it was just four walls, but was special.
"The only thing that stays the same is everything changes, everything changes."
That song sings of a human truth. Life is about change, "the only constant is change."
Although moving was hard, the reason we are moving is joyful and exciting. Around mid summer Justin and I began tossing the idea around of buying a lot and building. We always planned on building our next home since that is Justin's line of work, but planned to do it in Ft. Worth. After surveying our options in Ft. Worth we determined that was not going to be feasible, so began looking around Mansfield. We found a community we fell in love with, put a bid on a foreclosed lot never dreaming we would get it, and got it. I had prayed a specific prayer a couple of weeks back asking the Lord to give us guidance and make it an easy process if this is what was meant to be, and everything has been that way. The windows in this process have been open wide. As soon as our bid was accepted, we put our house on the market and it sold.
We have now designed our home and are in the stages of financing and permits. We are hoping to get this home off the ground at the beginning of December. Justin thinks construction will take about 6 months so we hope to be in our home sometime this summer. We are currently in with my parents and enjoying the company and help.

Butterfly Babe
Or a fairy, whatever you want to call her. I call her girly, cute and sweet.
What a fun Halloween! Since Caroline was three months last year we didn't get too excited about this day, and just sat outside and handed out candy. I figured this year would be similar since Caroline is still quite young, but I was wrong.
I bought some wings a while back at Canton and I thought they would make a cute costume with her tutu. I think it did!
We have been out of our house for a week, but before we left we planned to go to our neighbors for a cook out and trick or treating. Caroline loved the trampoline and I had to stay on guard constantly while she laughed and jumped hysterically. Justin's Dad, dru, and Michaela came with us too, which was really great.

Caroline had been in an awful mood through the late afternoon so I was prepared for a tough evening, but the exact opposite happened. Caroline loved running from house to house and getting candy, although she had no idea what it was. I think she really liked watching all the other spooks creep around. We hit up about 10 houses in our old neighborhood then went by my Aunt Carol's and Grammy's house. She got some sweet treats from them, as well as from Papa Mike and dru earlier in the day!!!

I look rough, Caroline is covered in M&M, but I rarely put family pics, so here it is.
