Boomer Update
Sunday afternoon we had to rush Boomer to the doggy ER. He would/could not walk, had lost an additional significant amount of weight in a day, and was vomiting everything he ate. NOT GOOD. We were worried we were heading in to put him asleep. Andrea and Jesse had come over to visit, so they watched Caroline while Justin took Boomer in. We really appreciate them hanging around to help us out. Once at the vet, they took blood and came back and informed Justin that Boomer had acute diabetes, but at the moment was extremely ill. Boomer had to stay over night in the hospital to get insulin, fluids, and probably so much more. We feel lucky the diagnosis is something that can be dealt with. I am hoping he responds well to treatment and is back to him old self soon. I went and picked him up from the vet this evening. For the time being, he is a bit better, he is eating, and wagging his tail. However, he still can hardly walk and is extremely weak. I will be waking up at 2 AM to give Boomer his insulin shot, and then again at 5:30 for two pills. What a responsibility, but I am thankful that he can be treated.

What a relief! I have been worried about him all day. Hang in there Boom Boom!!
So glad to hear that!!
Allison...this exact same thing happened to my in-laws dog, Peanut! She got very "sick" and one morning she was so lethargic and listless, they thought she was about to die. They rushed her to the doggie ER, drew blood, all the same stuff they did with Boomer. After a little bit of time, Peanut got all better and now takes insulin shots twice a day and has for about 2 years now. She is completely back to her normal playful self!! Hope this makes you feel better :)
I was so nervous for y'all. You are such a good doggy mom to wake up and give him his medicine and shot. I would be so scared to give a shot.
